As the health system’s Chief Nursing Officer since 1999, Ms. Ferdinand has lead clinical and patient safety efforts including Nursing, Medication Management & Safety, Care Management, Quality & Clinical Decision Support, Patient Safety and Accreditation & Quality Standards. In September 2007, she was also named the system’s Chief Quality Officer. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Ferdinand served at the Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Officer for Lancaster General Hospital. She previously served as Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services, as Director of Care Management and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Lancaster General Hospital. Ms. Ferdinand joined the hospital in 1983 as a cardiothoracic surgery clinical nurse specialist and in this position she facilitated the implementation of the Cardiac Surgery program. She has more than 30 years of nursing and critical care experience. With a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Ferdinand is currently a Doctoral of Nursing Science candidate at Widener University.
