Charitable Contributions and Volunteer Activities

Novation and the Alliances are committed to supporting charitable causes in the communities where we operate and elsewhere. In this regard, Novation and the Alliances support various programs designed to create healthier communities and promote school-linked programs. In addition, Novation supports the efforts of employees to engage in volunteer activities.

Environmental Stewardship

Novation is committed to decreasing the environmental footprint of health care and group purchasing activities. As the nation’s leading contracting services company, Novation is well positioned to drive environmentally preferred purchasing. Environmentally preferred purchasing can be achieved without sacrificing patient care, and Novation believes it can be an important step to improving patient care. Novation supports decreasing exposure to toxins, reducing energy usage and carbon emissions, and minimizing waste, all of which provide a healthier environment for patients, employees and the community at large.

Leading by Example

As a recipient of the Champion for Change Award for the past five years, Novation is recognized by Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (now known as Practice Greenhealth) as being a positive contributor and environmental steward within the health care industry. The award recognizes Novation for its efforts at both the corporate and member levels. Novation champions a corporate culture that encourages portfolio executives to ask deeper questions to assess each contract’s environmental impact during the contracting process. Offering ongoing education about environmental sustainability, adopting environmentally friendly corporate practices, and providing access to organizations like Practice Greenhealth are just a few of the ways Novation exemplifies internally the changes it encourages externally.

New Technology

Novation is committed to ensuring that the members we serve have access to savings and information about new and potentially innovative health care technology. As part of that commitment, we have created an online forum through which members and health care vendors can provide and exchange information about health care technology.

Product Quality

One of Novation’s highest priorities is to select and promote manufacturers who will provide safe, effective, readily available and cost-effective products for use by member institutions. To ensure Novation can deliver on this commitment, every incumbent supplier, potential new supplier and suppliers seeking extensions are evaluated for exclusion or debarment by the federal government; history of U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspections, agency observations or product recalls; and by member councils or task forces.

Supplier Diversity Program

Novation created the Supplier Diversity Program in 1999 and is steadfast in supporting the development of minority–, woman– and small, veteran-owned business enterprises (MWVBEs) that meet high quality standards. The Supplier Diversity Program is committed to the inclusion of approved MWVBEs as an integral part of the supply chain management process. Objectives of this program are to create a robust contract portfolio of certified MWVBE manufacturers, distributors and service providers, drive member utilization with contracted firms and enhance second-tier supplier diversity participation of our non-program suppliers and distributors.
