OVERVIEW
Novation was established Jan. 1, 1998, when VHA Inc. and University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), two national health care alliances, consolidated their supply-contracting functions. Based in Irving, Texas, Novation acts as the contracting services company for members, associates and affiliates of both alliances, to help them manage and reduce supply costs.
Novation also provides contracting services to over 10,000 health care and education customers of Provista, a group purchasing and business solutions organization jointly owned by VHA and UHC and formed to serve organizations that are not members of either alliance.
Novation offers an extensive range of contracting services including: contract development, contract and supplier management, custom contracting, enhanced savings programs, online contract management and analytical tools, order management and online supplier connectivity.
Through its affiliation with VHA, UHC and Provista, Novation represents:
- $33.1 billion in annual purchases in 2007
- 44 percent of the staffed beds in the United States
- 49 percent of the nation’s admissions
- 52 percent of nation’s total surgeries
We serve health care and education organizations of all sizes, ranging from many of the nation's best-known and most prestigious health care systems and colleges and universities to small, rural hospitals throughout the country.
To ensure that we're meeting the needs of the members we serve, Novation employs a member-focused strategy to provide each organization with multiple opportunities to provide input. Decisions - from the development of award criteria and bid awards to the format of agreement launch packages - are based on member input. Novation works closely with various member councils and task forces to generate input that will enhance the quality of our offerings.
