Searching Open Jobs
Can I review job postings without applying for a job?
Yes, you can view open jobs without being a registered user. Simply look under the heading titled “First Time Applicants” and select the button that reads “Search Jobs and Apply.”
If you’re already a registered user, enter your user name and password to login and view current postings.
Search for a job by clicking on one of the job categories listed or by typing in a keyword. To look at additional positions, choose "Back" – instead of “Continue.” Only choose “Continue” if you want to fill out an online profile and apply for a job.
What if I get "no result" when I do a keyword search or select a specific job category for a specific area of interest?
If you do not get a result, it means there are no openings currently in that area. Postings are updated regularly, so please check back at a later date.
What if I receive an error message while I am in the Career Center?
Clear your browser’s cache and log off the browser; then re-enter the Web site. To clear your browser cache on Internet Explorer:
- From the Tools drop-down menu, select Internet Options.
- In the pop-up dialog box, select General, then Temporary Internet files.
- Click “Delete Files,” and if prompted, also check the option for “Delete all offline content.” Then click OK.
- Click OK again to clear all cached pages.
- Log off and reopen the browser to continue.
How can I print a job posting?
The easiest way to print a job posting is to right-click anywhere on the job posting details page and select print.
Applying for Jobs / Completing Online Profile
I forgot my password. What do I do?
- Choose the “Search for Jobs” link at www.vha.com/careers, www.novationco.com/careers, www.goodroe.com/careers or www.provistaco.com/careers.
- You will be presented with the login page. Select the button titled, “Did you forget your user name or password?"
- In the pop-up window, enter your first name, last name, user name and e-mail address. Click Submit.
- Your user name and password will be e-mailed to you.
- Use the temporary password from the e-mail to login to your profile.
- You will be prompted to change your password; follow the on-screen instructions.
What does it mean when the application says my Social Security number is already in use?
If you receive this message, you may have tried to register as a new visitor when you already registered in the past. Please login as a returning visitor with your user name and password. If you forgot your password, follow the instructions in the preceding question. You should then be able to complete your profile and apply for open positions.
How long will it take to complete my profile?
Completing a profile takes approximately 15 minutes, as long as you have all of the required information on hand (e.g., work history, school information, resume). You can take a break and save your partial profile by choosing “Save for Later”. However, you will not be considered for employment until you have completed all of the pages.
How can I determine if I am qualified for a particular position in the VHA family of companies?
Click on the job title to view the job details and the qualifications. Please note whether the qualifications indicate “required” or “preferred.” For example, if the position requires a bachelor's degree and three years of experience, then your education and experience must meet those minimum requirements to be considered for the job. If the qualifications state an associate's degree is required and a bachelor's degree is preferred, then you must have the required associate's degree, but it isn't necessary that you have the bachelor's degree in order to qualify for the position.
How do I attach documents such as a resume, cover letter, letter of reference, etc.?
- Login with your user name and password.
- Select “Preferences” at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down the page and select “Attach Your Resume” to add documents formatted in Microsoft Word (*.doc), rich text (*.rtf) or text (*.txt). You can also copy and paste your resume information into the text box. To do this, click “Browse” and select your document. Next choose “Open,” followed by “Save and Return.”
- If your document is another format – such as Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf), JPEG Compliant (*.jpg, jpeg), or graphics interchange (.gif), select the button titled “Attach Additional Documents.” Cover letters, performance reviews, reference letters, transcripts, etc. can be attached to your application here. Choose “Browse” and select your document. Choose “Open,” then “Attach,” followed by “Close Window.” Save the document with a simple and relevant name (e.g., Resume). If you have more than one of a particular document, save it by name and include the job posting number (e.g., Cover Letter 1581). Click “Save for Later” (if needed) or “Submit and Apply” (if finished). Choose “Continue” if you want to continue editing your profile.
What if I have selected certain positions to apply for but have not completed my online profile and want to finish it later?
Simply choose “Save for Later.” This will save the completed portion of your profile. Please note that you will not be considered for a particular position until you have completed all of the pages.
What do I do if I am ready to go online and finish my partially completed profile?
- Choose the “Search for Jobs” link at www.vha.com/careers, www.novationco.com/careers, www.goodroe.com/careers or www.provistaco.com/careers.
- Login with your username and password and complete your profile by selecting the tab at the top of the page where you ended.
- Once completed, you can apply to position(s) you have previously selected by clicking “Submit and Apply.”
How do I update or change my online resume?
- Choose the “Search for Jobs” link at www.vha.com/careers, www.novationco.com/careers, www.goodroe.com/careers or www.provistaco.com/careers and login with your username and password.
- To update your resume, select “Preferences” at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down to the existing resume and choose “Remove.”
- A pop-up window will appear asking if you are sure you want to delete the attachment; click OK.
- Attach your new resume, following instructions noted above.
- Click “Submit and Apply” when you are finished.
- If you want to update your online profile, navigate to the section you want to update, type in your changes, and then click “Submit and Apply.”
Can staffing contacts see updates I make to my online profile after I’ve already applied for a position?
Staffing contacts can view updates to your profile; however, the system does not notify us when updates occur. Therefore, it is important to be thorough in completing your online profile at the time you apply for a specific job opening.
How do I withdraw from a position?
If you accidentally apply for a position or change your mind about a position to which you applied, you may withdraw your application by first logging into your profile.
- Go to the job selection page and click on the button titled “Continue.”
- On the current job openings page, you will see a section titled “Jobs You Have Applied For.” Each job will be listed, along with a blue link titled “Withdraw” on the right side of the screen. Click on this link and a pop-up window will appear asking if you want to withdraw. Click OK and your application for that position will be withdrawn.
Who can I contact with questions or if I would like to check the status of my application?
Please wait at least four weeks after you have submitted your application before contacting Employment Services at careers@novationco.com.
Can I submit my resume through general mail or fax?
We prefer that all applications come through our online Career Center so that we can better track all applicants and do not miss anyone.
Will the system time out if I don’t complete my application right away?
Yes, the system will time out after 40 minutes of no activity and will not save your data. If this is your first time to use the system, we recommend that you start the process when you have at least 20-30 minutes of uninterrupted time. On subsequent visits, the time to complete an application is significantly reduced if you upload your resume as a separate document or if you have already saved your resume in the system.
I was referred by a current employee of your organization; do I still need to submit online?
Yes, you will need to officially apply online; and through the process, you will have the opportunity to enter the name of the individual who referred you.
Where do I apply for jobs within the VHA family of companies – VHA, Novation, Provista and Goodroe?
You can find all open positions across the VHA enterprise in the Career Center.
Do I have to submit a separate application for each position in which I'm interested?
No, you fill out one application and can use it to apply for multiple jobs.
Where can I go to get help with the online application?
You can access additional instructions are online and accessible from each page of the application.
I am currently employed within the VHA family of companies. Is there a different Web site for internal applicants?
No, however, you can access the Career Center from the company intranet. You will have an opportunity to enter your current employment information in the application.
