Novation Launches 2006 Group Buys for Capital Equipment

Hospitals Saved $41 Million Through Novation’s Group Buy Program in 2005

IRVING, TX; March 14, 2006 — Novation, the health care contracting services company of VHA Inc. and University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), launched its 2006 national group buy strategy to provide additional savings to VHA, UHC and Healthcare Purchasing Partners International (HPPI) members.

Novation launched its national group buy program in early 2005, and since then, 677 VHA, UHC and HPPI members have saved $41million through the initiative.

“Novation offers VHA, UHC and HPPI members the opportunity to save a significant amount of money on the products they spend the most money on,” said Denise Rubin, senior director of capital equipment at Novation. “The high member participation in the group buy program shows that health care organizations find value in group buy purchasing.”

Novation’s group buys are developed based on in-depth member interviews and analyses of members’ capital budgets.

Novation has seven group buy periods which include several diagnostic imaging and non-imaging equipment categories scheduled for 2006. A new round begins April 1, giving members access to additional savings opportunities on costly medical technologies.
