Novation Announces Sweeney Promotion
IRVING, TX; March 16, 2007 Novation, the health care contracting services company of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), has promoted Dan Sweeney to senior vice president of contract and program services.
In his new role, Sweeney will have oversight for contracting strategy and program development for anesthesia, orthopedics, medical, respiratory, cardiology, imaging and medical/surgical distribution. Additionally, he will lead Novation’s supply chain data management efforts.
"Dan has been instrumental in helping establish Novation as the leader in health care contracting services and his efforts have resulted in many notable contributions to the organization," said Joellyn Willis, president of Novation. "His expertise, experience and his capacity to focus on long term strategies will serve Novation and our alliance members well."
Sweeney has served in various capacities at Novation and VHA. Most recently, he served as vice president, contract and program services over physician preference areas at Novation. In 1986, he served as senior director in the pharmacy business unit at VHA.
Prior to joining VHA, Sweeney worked in public accounting specializing in financial and operational activities for health care and public sector businesses and organizations.
Sweeney holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
