Witter Joins Novation as VP, General Counsel and Compliance Officer

IRVING, TX; September 27, 2007 — Novation, the health care contracting services company of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), has hired Jill Witter as new vice president, general counsel and compliance officer. Witter officially joined Novation on September 17, 2007.

As senior legal counsel and compliance officer for Novation, Witter has responsibility for all legal and compliance matters related to Novation and its businesses, and provides legal advice to Novation's senior management, board of directors and business units.

“Jill’s extensive legal experience spans a range of industries and she has handled nearly every aspect of public company legal matters. We look forward to working with Jill and benefiting from her unique experience and expertise,” said Joellyn Willis, president of Novation.

Witter joins Novation with more than 30 years of legal experience, having served as general counsel in corporate environments for the last 18 years. Most recently, Witter held the position of general counsel for International Paper Company’s Forest Products Division, where she managed the largest land sale in U.S. history besides the Louisiana Purchase.

Witter holds a law degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Missouri in Columbia. Witter served as chapter president of the Missouri Bar Association and remains active in numerous nationally recognized professional legal organizations.
