Novation Publishes New Medical Technology Catalog
Catalog Showcases New Medical Products Available Through Novation Contracts
IRVING, TX; May 24, 2008 — Novation, the leading health care contracting services company of VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista, LLC, announced today the release of it new Medical Technology Catalog. Working with awarded suppliers Novation compiles the new technology catalog each spring. The catalog showcases innovative medical products that are available through Novation contracts. Products are organized by categories which include diagnostic imaging, facilities, laboratory, medical, respiratory and surgical. It also includes color images, information on product features and incremental patient care, patient safety or healthcare worker safety benefits.
“The catalog is one of Novation’s many efforts to ensure that VHA and UHC members have access to savings and information about new medical technology, said Jenifer Axline, director of innovative technology at Novation. “In addition, a new device or product may be the first of its kind in the market or an improvement over existing technology within the same product class or category.”
Whenever possible, Novation will contract with suppliers of new technology to provide members with the best prices available. Suppliers can submit information about new technology to Novation, regardless of whether the products are available on a Novation contract. However the products must meet the following criteria:
- Available on Novation contracts
- Meet appropriate regulatory guidelines
- Available for sale in the United States
- Documented evidence of incremental patient care, patient safety or health care worker safety benefit.
The new technology evaluation process accelerates the review process so new and improved technologies do not have to wait for a scheduled competitive bid. The process allows members’ speedier access to savings on the latest medical technology.
