Novation Issues Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Product Catalog
Online Catalog Helps Members Achieve Green Purchasing Objectives by Specific Functional Area
IRVING, TX; August 11, 2008 As part of its ongoing dedication and commitment to sustainability in health care, Novation announced today that it is developing an Environmentally Preferred Purchasing (EPP) product online catalog. With nearly 300 products and growing, the new catalog aims to assist members in achieving green purchasing objectives in specific functional areas. The catalog is organized by traditional health care organization service areas such as, anesthesia, facilities, food, furniture, medical and surgical. Products and services are highlighted within the catalog with descriptions of their environmental benefit and product images.
“The online catalog is Novation’s newest corporate social responsibility initiative. The catalog affords us the unique opportunity to truly make a difference and assist in the environmental purchasing practices of our members,” said Maryann Restino, vice president, contract and program services at Novation. “The catalog is another chapter in Novation’s commitment to members and sustainability.”
The catalog allows materials managers to look at a variety of issues when considering their purchasing options. The Environmental Benefit section offers buyers extended information about why the product is an EPP product. For example, descriptions range from – “recycled bottle”; “bag-in-box uses less material and carton is recyclable”; “super concentrated”; “lower odor”; or “reusable”.
As the leader in contracting services, Novation, in collaboration with VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista, LLC, is dedicated to promoting excellence in health care with minimal impact to the environment.
