Novation Introduces Radiology Watch Report

New Report Features Comprehensive Information about Latest in Radiological Technology

IRVING, TX; April 8, 2009 — Each year, hospitals spend more than $4 billion on imaging capital equipment and supplies. To help hospitals make more informed and smarter purchasing decisions, Novation, the leading health care contracting services company of VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista, LLC, created Radiology Watch. The report showcases information about product and practice trends for radiologic subspecialties featured at the 2008 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago. The report includes information gathered at the conference including a review of the technology pipeline and newest innovations. The timing of this report is important because many hospitals are cutting travel budgets and, consequently, staff conference attendance. Novation’s newest report will help health care providers stay informed on the latest news in radiology and imaging.

“Honoring our commitment to provide alliance members with information that will help make strategic and cost effective purchasing decisions, we are excited to be offering this first-ever publication,” said Ed Schrader, senior director at Novation. “This new report will be published twice a year and will be very useful to those working in radiological technology. Knowledge of trends will help members gain a better understanding of key physician-preference products.”

The report includes information collected by Novation staff through supplier meetings, such as new technology reviews, and studies in development. In addition, the content was peer-reviewed by Novation’s Imaging Council, which comprises of medical doctors, clinicians and engineers.

Technologies featured in the issue include, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, angiography/cardiovascular suite, power injectors, radiography (digital and computed), medical film, ultrasound, urology, molecular imaging and informatics. The report also includes safety, regulatory, information sharing and economic course summaries.
