Novation Awards Five Agreements for Safety Specimen Collection (Blood and Urine) Products
IRVING, TX; January 28, 2010 – Novation, the healthcare industry's leading supply contracting company, today announced that it has awarded five agreements for safety specimen collection (blood and urine) products. The new three-year contracts were awarded to Becton Dickinson (Franklin Lakes, NJ), Greiner Bio-One (Monroe, NC), Smiths Medical (St. Paul, MN), Medipurpose (Norcross, GA) and Retractable Technologies, Inc. (Little Elm, TX). The contracts are effective Feb. 1, 2010 through January 31. 2013.
Under the terms of the deal, these companies will provide the following to the members of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista:
- Safety evacuated blood collection tubes and capillary tubes (dual-source with Becton Dickinson and Greiner)
- Safety winged blood collection sets (dual-source with Becton Dickinson and Greiner)
- Safety blood collection needles/holders (multisource with Becton Dickinson, Smiths Medical, Retractable Technologies and Greiner)
- Safety lancets (multisource with Becton Dickinson, MediPurpose and Smiths Medical)
- Closed urine collection and transportation systems (dual-source with Becton Dickinson and Greiner)
