Novation Introduces Orthopedic Watch Report

Report Features Comprehensive Information about Latest in Spine Technology

IRVING, TX; February 23, 2010 – Each year, hospitals spend more than $6 billion on orthopedic equipment and supplies. In 2009 alone, spine sales grew by more than 11.1 percent. To help hospitals make more informed and smarter purchasing decisions, Novation, the leading health care contracting supply company of VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista LLC, created Orthopedic Watch. This report showcases information about product and practice trends for orthopedic subspecialties featured at the 2009 North American Spine Society (NASS) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, including a review of the technology pipeline and newest innovations.

As many hospitals are cutting travel budgets and, consequently, staff conference attendance, Novation’s newest report will help health care providers who were unable to attend the meeting stay informed on the latest news and trends.

“This industry is rapidly evolving and member access to market research is financially constricted, yet it is imperative that members understand the dynamics that will affect their financial and patient viability,” said Scott Crandall, senior director contract services at Novation. “Novation is committed to being the source of this information for members with market and technology expertise.”

The report includes information collected by Novation staff through supplier meetings, such as new technology reviews, and studies in development. In addition, the content was peer-reviewed by Novation’s Imaging Council, which is comprised of medical doctors, clinicians and engineers.

Featured in this report are a spine market overview, new technology summaries, technology detail, economic impact, and course summaries.
